Buxa is gaining prominence for adventure tourism. Adventure tourism at Buxa(2600 ft above sea level)is promoted by Forest Department under Government of West Bengal. Presence of a wide variety of avian life(birds) is luring naturalist and tourists to Buxa.
One of the oldest organization of India – Bombay Natural History Society conducted a survey on birds of Buxa which mentions 500 different species are present at Buxa Forest. In the year 2016 first “Bird Festival” was conducted at Buxa in association with Government of West Bengal – First of this kind in the state. This year from 6th – 9th January 2019 Bird Festival was conducted at Buxa. Eminent wildlife photographers, naturalists and tourists gathered in huge numbers.
Buxa was already famous for wildlife but now or from last three years it is picking up momentum as birding paradise. Every year new species of birds are found at Buxa. Adventure Tourism and Birding has changed the dimension of tourism at Buxa.
