Darjeeling Fest kicked off with a Spectacular Show

Darjeeling Fest kicked off on 20th September 2019. Organisers promised tourists loads of fun and enjoyment. The bravery of the pet dog of Ms Aruna Lama of Sonada was appreciated. It chased off a leopard and saved the master from the clutches of the leopard.

The festival will be for 8 days and end on World Tourism Day on 27th September.

There is a gamut of programmes in the eight-day fest. Cultural performances by local bands, along with special attractions for tourists. The festival started with a grand parade from the Motor Stand of Darjeeling, with people from different walks of life taking part in it, while students and artists performed cultural dances.

A plethora of events like flower show, foot-ball show, fashion show, dog show and Taekwondo will be showcased. Organisers hope to revive local game ‘Chungi'(ball-like thing made of rubber bands and played with feet). Also in the offering are musical bands, cultural and religious shows. There are stalls with exhibits of rich history, tradition and diverse culture of Darjeeling.

It is learnt that a person nearly 85 years old and who is driving a Land Rover from England and doing a tour of the world will reach Darjeeling on 27th and he will be felicitated.
