Gorumara National Park will be guarded through regular boat patrolling. This will of help to protect habitat and control of poaching of wild animals. Till now either on foot or by captive elephant the forest was kept under observation. For the first time, the Government had decided to use rivers(Murti & Jaldhaka) to guard Gorumara National Park. Till now the guards deployed faced problem as no waterways were used to protect the park. In April 2017 two Rhinos lost their life in the hand of poachers. Same way in last December 2018 one Rhino was killed & its horn was cut off. While investigating forest officials came to know that Gorumara’s Jaldhaka Zir river bed & Ramshai’s Jaldhaka river bed were used as safe corridors by poachers. Since poaching is always associated with the inter-state and/or international smuggling of the wildlife products, regular coordination between various enforcement agencies like BSF, Railway Police, Customs, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Police etc. will be maintained.
