Thermal Cameras for Gorumara National Park

An adult male rhinoceros was found dead with its horn missing on 25/12/2018 at the Gorumara National Park(GNP). Taking a cue from the incident, the forest department has decided to place thermal cameras at strategic locations inside and within the periphery of GNP. There is an easy passage to the forest from Ramsai & Bamandanga Zero Point area. Two plug those areas two new watchtowers would be coming up in these areas. These cameras would be able to take images at night also.

Still, the horn of the rhino is untraceable. The rhino was killed with help of poison & horn taken-off by poachers.

Forest guards would be equipped with modern arms and ammunition aided night vision cameras. Also, the number of guards would be increased in GNP.
