Bengal Tiger to be released at Buxa

Buxa Tiger Reserve spreads over an area of 700 sq km with 60 hectares of grassland. The habitat is ideal for tigers, as informed by forest officials. The forest has a large population of Indian Gaur, one of the favourite kill of the tigers. Adjacent to Buxa is the Jaldapara National Park which has a large number of Sambar Deers and Gaurs.

Few Tigers will be relocated from Assam, green signal is already issued from Central Govt. Procedure to release the tigers is already initiated. To supplement Gaurs of Buxa, Wildlife specialists have chosen Sambar Deer(favourite food for the tiger). Sambar Deer from Jaldapara National Park will be relocated to Buxa to provide ample food for the Tigers.

To tranquillize the deer’s Mr Subrata Palchaudhuri will be coming to Jaldapara very soon. Initially, 50 Sambars will be released but extreme caution to be exercised during the whole process as the heart of Sambar is weak and excessive exertion may be fatal.
