Weekend Tourism Festival at Dooars

Dooars and North Bengal will host Weekend Tourism Festival after Durga Puja. West Bengal State Tourism Department will organise the event.

The festival will commence on 15th November and end on 22nd December 2019. In Dooars- Buxa, Rajabhatkhawa, Jalpaiguri, Matelli and Gajoldoba will host the event. The festival will be inaugurated at Sittong. In every venue, the event will be for three days.

It is learnt that from 29th November to 1st December, the festival will be held at Rajabhatkhawa adjacent to Buxa Tiger Reserve of Alipurduar district. Primarily adventure tourism will be promoted at Rajabhatkhawa. “Day Visit Centre” at otherwise restricted Bhutanghat may be opened. Road to Buxa Fort is likely to be repaired jointly by PWD and Tourism Department. Tent accommodation is likely to be arranged at Buxa.

It is expected the event will attract tourists from neighbouring states and countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal.
