20th June 2020 – Darjeeling Hills, along with rest of the country, are battling COVID-19 and tourism is one of the badly affected sectors. Gorkhaland Territorial Administration(GTA) has started the groundwork for the upcoming tourist season which falls in the months of September-October. It is quite encouraging to note that several are coming from tourists.

As a part of the preparations, a meeting was held yesterday at Lalkhoti, the GTA headquarters, among GTA officials and home-stay owners in the hills.

It was more of an interactive session with home-stay owners, to hear what they had to say. It is learnt that lot of enquiries are also received during the off-season in the months of July-August. They urged the GTA to come up with Standard Operating Procedure(SOP) for them to follow.

In the next phase, GTA is planning to hold interactive meetings in the community level so that feedback can be taken from them also.
