Black Panther captured by trap cameras at Buxa


2nd January 2021 – Buxa Tiger Reserve(BTR) again proves its rich biodiversity. On the eve of New Year, the foresters of Buxa Tiger Reserve were checking the photographs clicked by trap cameras installed at the forest. An adult balck leopard/ black panther or for more specifically called ‘Melanistic Leopard’ was captured by one of the cameras. The picture showed the leopard in its prime roaming in the forest.

On 12th January last year, tourists clicked a black panther pair in the Jayanti area of BTR. It is learnt that apart from Black Panther, clouded leopard, dhole, binturong, Himalayan black bear were also captured by trap cameras.

This New Year has bring cheers to the tourists and environmentalist lovers.
