Train stops in Dooars to Save the Jumbo

25th October 2019 – The loco pilot of Alipurduar-Siliguri passenger train applied emergency brakes to stop the train after he noticed an elephant standing on the railway tracks in between Hasimara and Kalchini of Alipurduar district.

It is learnt that a wild elephant came right in front of the train early in the morning as it came out of the Gudambari forest beat of the Buxa Tiger Reserve. The train stopped right on time, while it gave the animal a gentle push. However, the elephant is not injured and the forest officials are monitoring the animal.
