Jaldapara Rhino Killed by Poachers

31-October-2019: A matured female rhino was killed by poachers last night at Jaldapara National Park. Authorities of the park recovered the carcass from ‘Fifty Feet’ beat of the park. There were bullet injury marks on the body and the horn of the rhino was missing.

It is learnt that the last incident of rhino poaching in the Jaldapara National Park had come to light on 5th February 2018.

A high alert has been sounded inside the National Park and near it after the fresh incident. Police and counter-insurgency have been deployed to conduct thorough checks on inside the park and adjoining areas.

Jaldapara National Park has a population of 327 rhinos.
